Asahi Europe & International (AEI) has been awarded the Changemaker Award in the RE100 Leadership Awards 2022. The company has been recognised for its achievements in the field of renewable electricity, by sticking to its ambitious goals and making significant strides towards reaching its net zero targets.

RE100 is the global corporate energy initiative led by the international NGO Climate Group, and brings together more than 370 major companies committed to their operations being powered by 100% renewable electricity. The awards were announced at Climate Group’s annual Climate Week in New York which runs alongside the UN General Assembly.

An RE100 member since 2020, Asahi’s breweries in Poland and the Netherlands are now powered with 100% renewable electricity.

Asahi is also on track to become carbon neutral across its operations by 2030, reducing scope three emissions – those of its suppliers – by 30% by this date. The business is working to become fully carbon neutral across the whole of its vast supply chain by 2050.

Paolo Lanzarotti, CEO of AEI, said, “Now more than ever, it is important for us to live up to our purpose of creating meaningful connections with people and the planet. We must collectively stay the course and continue our work towards transitioning to a low-carbon economy globally. Together, we can go further and faster.”
